So far I am I am really loving this book, there is so much adventure and when you think you should stop reading something else happens making you want to read more.
The main characters handle scary situations very well because in the end their goal is the get to the summit and thats exactly what they do, thanks to the foreshadowing in the beginning of the book. Throughout the book the climbers experience lots of scary situations that can end their life yet they keep on going. Some of these scary situations include: climbing a dangerous glacier called Icefall, avalanches, ultraviolet headaches, the brutal storm that claimed nine peoples lives, and the oxygen tank mishap on the way down. There were many problems they had to face, but almost every time they overcame them and solved them. They never gave up and thats what I love so much about this book.
The storm that claimed nine peoples lives what overlooked and the big question is what went wrong? I guess the simple answer was that they didn't know what is was or they thought it was a small flurry of snow, but what they got was way bigger than that. Some people were left behind due to their strength and condition, but why not save their lives and help them up the mountain? There are many questions surrounding that day that only the author can answer and the mens lives that were lost should never be forgotten.
The quote that really caught my eye in this book so far is "Everest summons dreamers." Although it is a little quote I think that is really means something to the author and other climbers that have made the journey. Climbing Everest isn't a game and not everyone can do it. You have to train, you have to climb other mountains and most of all you have to be willing to risk your life doing what you love. These people climbing the mountain have worked hard and if climbing Everest is your dream then nothing should stop you from fulfilling it.
Overall, this book is amazing and it shows you to never give up on your dream.
